About this work
Description
"This pamphlet is part of a series produced by The Haringey Women's Employment Project and with Lewisham Women's Employment Project. The first of this series, called "Women where are your jobs going" discussed changes in the local economy, together with the impact of these changes upon women and upon men. As jobs have been disappearing unemployment has been rising dramatically - and even more so for women; between 1971 and 1980 women's unemployment rose by 44%, compared with an increase of 82% for men. And the quality of even the remaining jobs has been deteriorating relatively; casualised, low paid work becoming more typical for men as well as for women. This series of pamphlets starts from the position that women need their jobs, just as men need theirs and that men and women alike share a common interest in fighting for better and more secure job opportunities."-- From reverse of front cover.
