Violent running, or frage- dancing, is juftly thought by many to induce afthmatical complaints, as it ftrains and op- preffes not only the air-veffels of the Jungs, but alio the blood-veiTcls, in copfequence of overpowering them with too quick a return of the blood. . It feems highly pro- bable that fuch violent mufcular motion may greatly injure refpiration and induce afthmatical diforders, particularly in tjiofe who 'have full habits or weak lungs*.— Neglect- of exercife, though flower in its opera- tion, is as deftructive a caufe as too great fatigue, for it is a very frequent caule of bodily weaknefs. f hofe who neither walk, nor ride, nor ufe any other regular exerciie, are often - troubled with great irritability of the nervous fyftem, which renders them fub- G ject * Horfes indeed are often obfeived to become afthmatical, or broken-winded, in confluence of quick running or violent Itrains. Floyer mentions a btoken-winded horfe which was differed, and the lungs were found bi'cgcr than natural, and the air-veflels on their external furface were fo much weakened and enlarged, as to refemble, when inflated, final] tumours \vhich did not readily fubfide.—Bonetus, in his Sepulchreturo, mentions a cafe of dyfpnaea in a patient, a puimone maximo, and another cf an Arthma, ab enormi pulmonum magnitudin'e, iuui'.cnto huraori infarcuorum.
