About this work
Description
"My work is an attempt to understand and articulate the experience of trauma, including pregnancy loss. It has an auto-therapeutic component, exploring how automatic writing can be used to work through issues within the artist's life, and is predominately text-based. I use Teeline shorthand and abstract painting techniques to obscure the literal meaning of many of my pieces, because I'm interested in the tension between the personal need to talk about traumatic experiences verses how much we are actually willing to share with others. Thank you for engaging with it. Throughout this zine there'll be translations provided for all the shorthand used in the exhibition."--From page [1].
