About this work
Description
Part 3 in a series of 3 short films illustrating the phenomena of heredity in animals and in man which utilises inter-titles, moving film images and animated graphics to put across its message. This part continues from Part 2, dealing with the inheritance of physical and mental characteristics in human life. Here we see two exemplary families' family trees laid out - the Godfrey family of bandmasters, and the Terry family who work in the arts and stage. We follow the Terry family down to its famous young member, actor John Gielgud. The film ends by encouraging those who come from 'good stock' to have as large a family as possible so as to keep the social pedigree high.

Notes
The film post-dates 'Heredity in Man' also sponsored by the Eugenics Society. This film follows more closely the film the Eugenics Society wanted to make and many of the sequences are common to both films but it does cover inheritance and heredity in animals in more detail. 'From Generation to Generation' is a silent film and 'Heredity in Many' has sound; distribution statistics were disappointing and it was discovered that silent projectors were more prevalent in the screening locations which would want the film.
