The wasting, innutrition, and muscular debility, and the accelerated pulse, clearly indicated the necessity of two glasses of wine daily, an egg at eleven o'clock a.m., fresh meat for dinner, tea in the afternoon, and gruel for supper. He took a dose of almond emulsion three times a day ; slept on a flock bed ; and used tepid sponging with vinegar and water every night, whilst he had profuse per- spirations ; bed clothes light.
