    “ During the same period 930 men from Southern States were examined for hookworm, none of whom was found to be infected. Cultures to the number of 2,255 were made to determine the presence of meningococcus carriers. Of these, 89, or 4 per cent, were positive. Notes FroM THE Navy Yarp, Mare Isianp, CAt. During the course of a small outbreak of diphtheria, in every instance the unit from which cases were taken was quarantined, and contacts were cultured and subjected to a Schick test. At the training camp, 5.53 per cent of contacts were found to be carriers and 43 per cent gave positive Schick tests. In the marine barracks only one carrier was found, and 15 men gave ositive Schick tests. At the prison 3 carriers and 65 positive Schick reactors were found. arriers were isolated and positive reactors were given antitoxin as a prophylactic.
