    (he hairy scalp , according to the manners directed Fig. 7 and 8, united with some general fumigations, contribute as the most potent re- medies to destroy the scurvy and inconvenient disorder. The use of this simple remedy must he insisted upon, as often as any new germs of tinia appear; with sulphurous fumigations, the scabs being loosened from the skin, and become dry, a cap of leather will promote the genera- tion of new lymph, and new scabs, which suc- cessively fall, till a perfect cure is accomplished. By this treatment we shall avoid the tormenting, and barbarous process of pulling out the hair. There are also examples of the cure of tinia which has extended over the face, the arms, the legs, and the thighs. Some months have passed since a young wo- man, of 16 years of age, was cured by sulphu- rous fumigations; and she assured me that she saw very small white worms come out from the herpetic scabs, which she had clearly distin- guished ; and after these worms had fallen off she suffered no more trouble in her head. In a few days, her cure being perfected, she became lit for service in one of the most respectable houses in Naples. THE 6th. INDICATION. To abridge the term, and render more certain the cure of the venereal disease. Altho' mercurial fumigations have been recom- mended in the cure of syphilis , ever since the i5th. century the practice has never been com- mon with us; probably for want of a convenient
