![[290] CASE III. A Man, aged fifty-fix, laboured under a Dropjy for many Months. All the ufual Medicines were tried to no Purpofe, The Size of his Belly dill encreafed, his Thighs and Legs were much fwelled, and his Appetite gone. A Tea-Spoonful of the Oxymel of the Meadow Saf¬ fron was given four Times a Day, in a Cup of Ground- Ivy Tea, for four Days, During which Time his Urine encreafed in larger Quantity than ufual On the fifth Day he took two Tea-Spoonfuls, four Times a Day. He then difcharged above twelve Pounds of Urine in a Day, of different Colours, having for the mod Part a mucous floculent Sediment, and a fmall Quantity of an oily Pellicle, of variegated Co¬ lours on the Surface. In fix Days his Belly wras much fofter, and greatly funk; his Thighs and Legs lefs tenfe. The Urine continued to run off in very large Quantities, and his Medicine operated fo well, that in five Weeks all Swelling was gone, his Appetite returned, he dept well and had a natural Stool once a Day.
