For many Days Remedies were employed, which moved her Urine, and recovered her Strength, and Stools were obtained by Clyfters. However the Difeafe continued as formerly*, fo that the Oxymel was employed. On the firfl Day fhe took an Ounce, divided into four Dofes, and bore this Quantity extremely well. The Efiefts of the Medicine were immediately per¬ ceived. Her Urine was difcharged in confiderable Quantity, and next Day fhe became more fenfible. In a few Days fhe was able to anfwer Queflions, and could breathe more freely, could move her Limbs a little, the Swelling of her Belly became fofter, and her Pulfe equal. Hence the Dofe feemed fufficient; for her Urine continued to flow in confiderable Quantity. She mend¬ ed daily, and in three Weeks was perfe&ly cured. The Swelling difappeared, and her Belly returned to its natural Size; fhe regained her Strength, her Breathing was eafy, fhe flept well, and had an Appe¬ tite. • V. Mr. Van Swieten faw this Cure performed •, and a furpriifing Proof it is of the Efficacy of this Medi¬ cine in fo miferable an old Woman.
