Q^U E R Y VIII. Why has one member of the committee been exclud¬ ed for non-attendance, and another, who was then, and for feme years after, out of the kingdom, chcfeu tn his ft tad d ANSWER. This query implies a falfe faeft, no member of the committee, particularly Dr. Davies, was ever excluded merely for non-attendance. In the year 1752 the governors received a letter from Dr. Davies, which was read in the committee, and which concluded in thefe words : * That I may be more at leifure to pur- 4 fue thefe deftgns, I intend to withdraw from 4 all others of a public nature (the duties of my 4 profeftion, whether to the rich or the poor, ex- 4 cepted) and therefore as my queftion was car- 4 ried in the negative, I think myfdf no further 4 concerned in it, and rhereforefhould be glad if * this was the laid trouble I am to give to the « board of the Bath hofpital.
