    MILITARY PORTRAITS—continued. 84 LIGONIER (John, Viscount, died 1770). Full length, on horseback, army in background, battlefield, supposed to be Dettingen, on which he was Knighted under the Royal Standard. Mezzotint by E. Fisher after Sir J. Reynolds. Size 21 by 18 inches, with large margins. Brilliant impression in first state, before all letters and before the plate was cleaned, (SEE ILLUSTRATION. Pxrate No. XII.). £63 He served in all the Wars of Queen Anne under the Duke of Marlborough; at Dettingen, 1742; made prisoner at the battle of Laufeldt, 1747; presented to Louis XV., and was soon released; created Viscount, 1757; and Earl, 1766; Commander-in-Chief of the British Forces, and Field Marshal. 85 LYNEDOCH (Thomas, Lord, 1748-1843). Full length, standing, in uniform, drawn sword in right hand. Large and fine mezzotint by S. W. Reynolds after Sir T, Lawrence. Size 287 by 172 inches.. 1831. | Brilliant proof before all letters.
