    sion at large, every doubt will soon disap- pear. Perhaps I am too sanguine, but my impression is that the secret is discovered, and that a bottle of the Eau Medicinale d’Husson consists of a dram and a half of the wine of White Hellebore, mixed with half a dram of vinous Laudanum. You will hardly consider it an objection, that this prescription does not accord with Mr. Husson’s declaration, “that the Eau Medicinale is the simple extract of a plant whose properties were before un- known.” Whereas I consider it to be a compound infusion of medicines which have been banded down to us from anti- quity, and which are now lying in every chemist’s shop in Europe. It seems not improbable that Husson made that declara- tion to prevent a discovery; and it did, iu fact, mislead you and many others, io-
