In thefe cafes, the difeafe is ufually accompanied with a gleet; for the Urethra' being enlarged beyond the ftridure, its irregularity fub- jedsit to irritation, and of courfe'to in- flammation. Tliie inflammation between the ftridure and the neck of the bladder is liable to fuppurate, and when that hap- pens, the matter^ as- in all other abfcefles, points externally, but often opens into the urethra, and then the urine making its way into the abfcefs, produces a -fif- tulous fore, the firft appearance of which externally, is commonly in the perinseum. If the difeafe is negleded, or improperly treated, the furrounding parts inflame and fuppurate, and feveral fiftulous open- ings are fometimes formed ; all of which ufually communicate with the original feat of the difeafe.
