AVater sujijily is mainly collected ]'ain water, but in addition there is a well with small ])etrol pump wliicli gives a varying amount of water. Lighting is by oil lamps. The Beverley Borough vSmall Box lIos])ital is a temporary wooden structure, which would re({uire con- siderable attention and expenditure to fit it for the reception of patients. It is situated in the Beverley Bural District, about half a mile outside the Borough. Three of the remaining Sanitary Authorities, viz., Iledon M.B., Cottingham L.I)., and Sculcoates ILl)., have agreements with the Ifull (hty (Council for the reception of their cases at the City Small Jh)x Ifosiiital. The Bural District Council of Biccall have a similar agreement with tlie Selby Joint Small Box Hospital. AMBULANCES. Two ambulances have l)een lent by the ITome Service Ambulance Committee to the County. They are garaged at Bridlington and Beverley resi)ectively. The County Council are responsible for tlie maintenance of the one at Beverley. This ambulance made ()9 journeys with a mileage of 1,450 during 1925, comi)ai‘ed with GO journeys and a mileage of 1,149 in 1924. ddie sum of £59 12s, dd. was received in fees. The charges are reduced or remitted in the case of necessitous persons. A form is now in use for signature by some relative or friend of the person to be carried who will guarantee payment of the charges incurred. It is necessary to obtain this guarantee to i)reivent abuse of the facilities provided. Motor ambulances are also kept at the County Isolation Hospital at Dritfield and at the (founty Small Box Hospital at Shipton. MIDWIVES ACTS, 1902 AND 1918. Boutine inspections of the practising midwives in the County are canned out by the fnspeclor of Midwi\'cs.
