Tile District is fail ly wellsiijiiilied owin^ mainly to its proximity to Hnll, and consequent ability to obtain a water supply therefi’om. Ib'eston, Sutton, Aiilaby’, Willerby and Kirk Ella are all thus supplied. The villages of Swanland, Ferriby and AVest Ella have public supplies in house or from stand pipes, but with • the parliamentary powers recently granted to Hull, the City Council have undertaken to supply the whole of the Western area. This will obviate the necessity to main- tain the pump with deep bore,-which is situated in Swanland. During the past two years the following new lengths of water main have been laid :—i Preston bOO juards. Sutton 500 Anlabv 2000 Kirk Ella 1000 Eerribv TOO t Welton is supplied from stand pipes from a spring in AVelton Dale, and the rest of the District from wells. ? 1 1 1 SiTERi’.unx. The villages of (lanton, Staxton, Muston and Sherl)urn have no public supplies at present. It is, however, to be hoped that vSherbiirn will not be long without one as there is a plentiful supply of excellent spring water available, l^otter Promj)ton has its OAvn supply to stand pipes. A special pipe is laid to the (xanton Golf Club. Dinnington has a supply pi])e from the AVold spring above the village. TTie villages of Elixton and Eolkton have their own water supply from wells by windmill and auxiliary engine. Skirlaugh. The Hull Corporation main passes throirgh the parishes of Bilton, AVyton, Sproailey, Elinton and Aldborough. Unfortunately very little advantage has been taken of this excellent opportunity to obtain an abundant pure water supply. No stand pipes are allowed. At T)resent the number of liouses wliicli have availed themselves of tlie water supply is few. Practically the whole of the District is dependent on collected rain water and shallow wells.
