The numher of deaths certified as due to Cancer or other forms of malignant disease is 237, giving a death- rate of 1.42 pt']- 1,UUU of the population. iNo cases of Small Pox were notified in the County during the year although several occurred in the City of null. Maternity and Child Welfare Avork has made further progress by the opening of another Infant Welfare Ceiiti’e at Withernsea, the building of a new Centre at flarlby, and the appointment of a resident midwife at the Maternity Home at Uritheld. The staff accommodation at the Isolation llosi)ital lias been increased by the addition of three bedrooms, the provision of Avhich Avill enable each nurse to liaA’e a separate bedroom. The Isolation Hospital for vSmall Pox has been enlarged and Avell eqAiipped, to become AA'hat is l)ractically a County Hospital. lAo fresh Avork in connection Avitli public AA'ater su])plies Avas undertaken during the j'ear. 1 have to express my thanks to the staff avIio have Avorked Avith me during the year.
