The numher of deaths certified as due to Cancer or other forms of malignant disease is 237, giving a death- rate of 1.42 pt']- 1,UUU of the population. iNo cases of Small Pox were notified in the County during the year although several occurred in the City of null. Maternity and Child Welfare Avork has made further progress by the opening of another Infant Welfare Ceiiti’e at Withernsea, the building of a new Centre at flarlby, and the appointment of a resident midwife at the Maternity Home at Uritheld. The staff accommodation at the Isolation llosi)ital lias been increased by the addition of three bedrooms, the provision of Avhich Avill enable each nurse to liaA’e a separate bedroom.
