    Poifonous, or malignant Vegetables> as well as Mine¬ rals ; fuch as the Cicuta Terrejiris, Napell: Nux zomica. Solan : Vulgar : Hyofcyam : &c. have furprifing, and un¬ common Effects on this Excretion ; but this is in com¬ mon with a Pervertion of the whole Animal Oeconomy, difturbed in all its regular Exercifes ; fo that One, from a comparative Inftitution of all the Symptoms, can fcarce be miftaken in Aflerting the true, and real Caufe. Now, I fay, from all thefe Confiderations taken toge¬ ther, and which I have fairly dated in their utmoft Force,, it don't fo much as even amount to a Sufpicion of Pro¬ bability, that fuch Subftances as affeft the Urine, either by cncrcaling it in Quantity, or imparting certain Qualities to the fame; that therefore fuch may, and do prove a Men- Jlruum for the Stone in the Bladder. It is a Falfity couch’d under a fpecious Pretence : It is tamely begging the Quef- tion, and at once monftroufly running crofs to the fixed, and inviolable Laws of the Animal Oeconomy; which muft eternally prefide over every Operation as long as Nature is the fame. I can’t imagine, that a Perfon is knowing, and at the fame Time ferious, in adducing the Operation of fuch Me¬ dicines, as a Reafon, that becaufe the Urine may be en- creas’d in Quantity, or alter’d in its Properties by certain Subftances ; that therefore there muft be fuch as will dif- jfolve the Stone when generated; and upon the fame Ac¬
