About this work
Description
Th?mes c?lestes. Paraph? suivant l'intendance [?] de Fran?ois Henry Bardy de Villedeux [?] de ce jour 11 octobre 1701 [Sign?] M. de Voyer d'Argenson. Lettered on spine 'Th?mes c?lestes.' Illustrated by pen-drawn horoscopic diagrams. On the fly-leaf 'Ce livre a ett? sauv? des flammes de la Bastille, le 14 juillet 1789 le jour de St. Bonneaventure par moi Isaac Durand'. The MS. contains horoscopes of most of the celebrities, mainly French, of the second half of the 17th century. The first horoscope is perhaps that of the compiler who is there stated to have been born 28/3/1634: his name is written above the figure. Among the other horoscopes of eminent persons of the 17th century, the following may be mentioned: Mr de Sangermain [sic] m?decin (perhaps Guillaume de Saintgermain [1653-1705]); Mr [Antoine de Caen, docteur en m?decine [1630- ]; Mr L'Anglois, Astronome et directeur du St. Esprit [1614- ]; Le fr?re Ange, Capucin m?dicin [1630- ], the empiric. Marc Ren? de Voyer d'Argenson [1652-1721] was Lieutenant G?n?ral de Police ? Paris.
