![Tlie above deaths include those of 20 children under one year of age including two males of illegitimate birth. Measured in [)ro])ortion to the recorded l)irths, this gives an infantile mortality of 72 per 1,000 births, as compared with 80 last year. Tire mean rate of leaths under one year to 1,000 births during the 5 years, 1020-1924 was 92. Diseases of the respiratory organs, such as bronchitis and ])neumonia, caused 80 deaths, or 19-8 i)er cent, of the total deaths, as cominared with 26 per cent, in 1924 and 24 per cent, in 1923. All tubercular diseases caused 13 deaths, or 7-1 ))er cent, of the total deaths, as comi)ared with 8-6 ])er cent, in 1924, and 5-9 per cent, in 1923. Nine of these deaths were caused by phthisis, which gives a phthisis death-rate of 064, as compared with 1-06 in 1924. Diseases of the zymotic or infectious class caused 12 deaths. The e])idemic death-rate for the year is 0-8 as compared with 1-2 in 1924.
