About this work

Description

This moving documentary from the Storyville strand looks at the lives of two children who have been directly affected by wars in their respective countries and the remarkable efforts of Italian NGO Emergency to help them. Six-year-old Mutaza found an unexploded landmine and took it home to play with, resulting in severe injuries to his hand. Fifteen-year-old Yagoub suffers from life-threatening rheumatic heart disease - he is a refugee from the unrest in Sudan and his family are unable to pay for his hospital treatment. Woven around the details of their medical treatments are valuable insights into their family lives and the lives of their wider social circle, as well as those of their fellow patients. The work of Italian NGO Emergency is clearly vital to the lives of these and other children in similar situations.
