Report to the General Board of Health on a Preliminary Inquiry into the Sewerage, Drainage^ and Supply of Water, and the Sanitary Condition of the Inhabitants of the Town of North- allerton, in the County of York. VIy Lords and Gentlemen, Pursuant to your instructions, and in furtherance of the petition presented to the Board on behalf of the inhabitants of ' he town of Nortliallerton, in the county of York, duly signed by > he inhabitants rated to the relief of the poor, as required by the r i*ublic Health Act, 11 & 12 Viet., cap. 63, as follows:— e “ Now, therefore, we the undersigned inhabitants of the town of j M’orthallertoii, in the county of York, and rated to the relief of the poor )f and within that town, and being one-tenth in number of the inhabit- 1 ints rated to the relief of the poor of and within the same town, do lereby petition the General Board of Health to visit the said town, Lud to make inquiry and examination with respect thereto, with a view o the application of the said Act according to the provisions of the said ^.ct in that behalf— gave notice, in conformity with the said Act, and, after dacing myself in communication with the promoters of the peti- ion, proceeded to Northallerton on the 10th of October, 1849, md on the next and following days instituted an inquiry, at the ‘ Union Board Room,” with respect to the following matters :— The sewerage, drainage, and supply of water. The number and sanitary condition of the inhabitants. The natural drainage-areas. 1 he existing parochial or other boundaries. The boundaries which may be most advantageously adopted for he purposes of the Act; and other matters, for enabling the Board o judge of the propriety of applying the said Act.
