    That the Hazard in the natural Way is greater, to grown Perfons than to Children; and greateft of all, to thofe who are in the Flower of their Age. That of young Children that have it, one in fix or feven commonly die of it 5 and of grown Perfons, at leaft one in three. That Inoculation is more hazardous to young Children, than to grown Perfons; and that about one, in fifty or fixty, who have received the Diftemper in that Way, have died. And, laftly, that Perfons to whom Inocu¬ lation is dangerous, would be expofed to great¬ er Hazard, by having the Diftemper in a natural Way. As for the Ufe which is to be made of thefe Obfervations, for the Direftion of our Judgments, and Regulation of our Pradlice, we may form this general Rule, which has been more obfcurely hinted a little above. The Expediency of Inoculation in any par¬ ticular Cafe, is proportionable to the Degree of that Danger, the propofed Patient is in, from the Diftemper in the natural Way From ^ Were this Rule to be exprefled with the llri(Slefl: ExacStnefs, in order to fearching out the Degree of Ex¬ pediency, in a Mathematical Way, I imagine it might ftand thus.
