CASE XXVII. , Esq., age 58.] Nov. 7, 1824.—Com- plained of pain in the head, with giddiness and loss of sight; within the last six months he had fallen down insensible several times; his general health was likewise much impaired, he suffered considerably from indigestion; his bowels were irregular, and the discharges from them were either scanty in quantity, passing in small lumps, or profusely loose, ten or fifteen being voided in the course of the day; had frequent cramps, with itching about the anus ; he occasion- ally passed blood in his motions. For the affection of his head, from which he had suffered more or less for years, he had consulted various medical men, most of whom advised purgatives, with oc- casional loss of blood by cupping.
