    the child will be put into a wet bed, than which nothing is more destructive of its health and growth, of which the follow- ing is an instance. I was not acquainted with the family; but I saw the manage- ment of the child. Its parents were peo- ple of such consequence as to have both a town and a country-house. It was at the latter that I saw a beautiful little boy, about three months old. As it drooped day by day, I looked more af- ter it. The servant, when she took the child out, would hang its mattress and blankets, out of the window, to dry. Per- haps, while she was out, there would be a shower, and they in course were com- pletely wet. The other servants, either knew nothing, or, if they knew about it, considered that it was not in their department, and therefore would not attend to it. I have also seen the bedding taken in at night, long after the damp of the evening must have wetted it like rain, and then, 1 have no doubt,
