The Womb is fituated below the Vejica- Urinaria^ and above the Return or flrait Gut, and joined to both, which by the Increafe of the Child’s Magnitude, and confequent Extenfion and PrelTure of the Womb on thofe Parts, often caufes Ob- ilru6tions of Urine, and a coflive Habit of Body : Its Form unimpregnated^ is in the Shape of a Pear or Cucurbit^ or a Flo¬ rence Flajk flatted j as it gradually increafes, it becomes above the Neck ablately Sphe¬ roidical in its Shape : In further Months of Pregnancy, it becomes more circular and orbific, its Neck fliortening by De¬ grees, till at lail it becomes almofl entirely Spherical], at which Time, by the Weight of its Contents, it lodges itfelf on the OJfa Ilia^ or Wings of the Pelvis^ as on a refting Place; and the Increafe of its Bulk caufes it to prefs upon the Inteftines, ® Vidu Daventer, who mentions one who had her Menje's all the Time of uterine Geilation, and another who never had them, but when pregnant.
