(4s. net). f ' In this book a very interesting summary is given of the whole field of modern chemistry, the latest developments in every branch of the subject being shortly explained. The book is of a type specimens of which were com- paratively rare till quite recently ; that is to say, well- written and restrained accounts of the advances of the science, free from exaggeration, and thoroughly accurate. Many a teacher who has felt the need of such a work to put into his older students’ hands, the well-informed general reader, and the scientific man who has no special knowledge of chemistry, will ail have reason to be grateful to the author for his admirable survey.
