    the manifestation of these principles in Perfect Man. This building of God must take place in each in- dividual, and I solemnly warn every reader of this book against any teaching to the contrary. If you cannot square any teaching with the perception of the truth of the promises of God in the Holy Scrip- tures, then reject that teaching, whether given by me or by any one else. The true Life is the life of your spirit, and the full revelation of the Spirit is in Christ Jesus. This is the conclusion to which my own studies have led me, and I would therefore earnestly impress upon my readers the warning of St. Paul: “ Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ ” (Col. II. 8). “ Avoid oppositions of science falsely so-called ” (I. Tim. vi. 20). A practical proof of the truth of the Bible will be seen from the careful study of History. During the long centuries which have elapsed since, at various times, the prophetic utterances were given the great drama of history has unfolded, scene by scene, in exact accordance both of time and circumstance with what had been foretold. Much that once was prophecy has now passed into history, but all has not yet been accomplished, and it is clear to the earnest student that the time is at hand for great events which will prepare the way for that
