The term balneum electricum is used by Callisek and others. It is applied to the simple communication established between an indiiridual and the excited prime conductor of an electric machine by means of a chain, or other metallic communica- tion. The individual is generally seated on an insulated stool (scahellum insulatum). Kostan {Diet, de Midecine), however, states that the individual may, or may not, be in- sulated.
