    Medicine for the Cure of Coughs, (This Invention received Provisional Protection, but notice to proceed with the application for Letters Patent ivas not given within the time prescribed by the Act.) PROVISIONAL SPECIFICATION left by William John Blackman at the Office of the Commissioners of Patents, with his Petition, on the 13th June 1855. I, William John Blackman, of the Hippodrome, Kensington, in the County 5 of Middlesex, do hereby declare the nature of the said Invention for “ A New Medicine or Syrup por the Cure or Coughs ” to be as follows:— The medicine for the cure of coughs, forming the subject of my Invention, consists of a preparation of thyme, sugar candy, & beer, with or without other ingredients, which I mix together & evaporate slowly by simmering 10 till reduced to about one-half the quantity, & otherwise prepare it for use. This syrup is very beneficial for the cure of a cough, & is especially adapted for children.
