No text description is available for this image![PUBLIC CONVENIEMCES The follo?/ing Conveniences are controlled by the Public Health Department: - Ladies;- Ashwood Park, Bridge Street, Burbage, Cote Heath, Fairfield, George Street, Market Place, Harpur Hill, Gentlemen:- Ashwood Dale, Bridge Street, Burbage, Cote Heath, Fairfield, Market Place, Terrace Road, Harpur Hill, Free washing facilities, with hot and cold vmter supply, soap and paper tov/els are provided at the Conveniences in the Market Place, Bridge Street, George Street and Terrace Road, There are no Conveniences fitted with turnstiles. Specific Improvements were carried out at Cote Heath Ladies and Gents Conveniences and Fairfield Ladies and Gents Conveniences, Free washing facilities were provided at Harpur Hill Ladies and Gents Conveniences, A new type of fluorescent lighting was introduced in the Conveniences v;ith the exception of Harpur Hill Y/hich had recently been completed. SLAUGHTERHOUSES - ]\£BAT INSPECTION Haslin Slaughterhouse situated at Harpur Hill continues to be the only licensed Slaughterhouse within the Borough, The Meat Inspection Regulations, 19^3 came into operation on 1st October, 19^3 and were put into operation from that date. The maximum of the scale of permitted charges for meat inspection was adopted and every carcase inspected in accordance with the Regulations carried the stamp of the inspecting officer. Discussions were held with the person having control of the Slaughterhouse to arrange the hours of slaughter and the agreed hoiirs still required the Meat Inspectors to continue meat inspection outside normal working hours including Siindays and Bank Holidays, Every endeavour was made to see that slaughtering was carried out in accordance with the Slaughterhouses (Hygiene) Reg\alations, 1958 and the Slaughter of Animals (Prevention of Cruelty) Regulations, 1958.
