Officers with chronic disorders not likely to be benefited by medical treat- only for four ment, will not be retained in any Naval Hospital over four months; and no officer will be a second time received into a Naval Hospital on acount of any disease or disability for which he has already for four months had the advan- tage of medical treatment in such an establishment. 4. No Officer in Hospital shall be entitled to any service except that of the Patientg. regular Hospital attendants; patients, whether officers or enlisted men, are objects of eqiial scllicitude to the Government. The following forms are to be observed in admitting any patient: (a.) When the Hospital ticket is found to be correct, indorse and file it, with any accompanying papers relating to the history of the case; if defective, return it to the Surgeon signing, directly, when he is at hand, or, in case he be abroad or detached, through the Bureau. (b.) Enter name, &c., as follows: 1st, in order of KM7?iiers, in a descriptive porm of ad- BOOK, which is the current Memorandum of Patients received: 2nd, in alpha- betical order, in a List of Patients, which thus becomes a current form M., whose pages must be wound up at the end of every quarter, and reopened at the beginning of the next, with the names of Patients continued to next quar- ter:' 3rd, in the General Register of Patients, which is the permanent Hospital record, for reference in case of future inquiries; finally, on the morn- ing of admission, in the Journal of Subsistence, as the patient's ration is to be stopped that day. ** (c.) Open Case paper, {form X.) {d.) Whether Seaman or Marine, from the Eeceiving Ship or other vessel, Case-paper, send ration notice to his own Paymaster; if a Marine from neighboring Bar- racks, serve the ration notice on his Commanding Officer. Ration-notice. 5. Form of Discharge. {a.) Seamen desiring it, and having no pension claims, to be recommended to the Bureau for final discharge, if likely to be long unfit for duty; when Discharge. apparently disabled in line of duty, to be similarly recommended, with request gurveyfordis- for survey, so as to settle their pension claims before they leave the Hospital, charge. (b.) The discharge of a Marine requires a certificate of ordinary disability. Marines.
