![THE MEDICAL AND PHARMACY ACT, 1891. ACT No. 34 of 1891.] [Promulgated 21st August, 1891. CAPE OF GOOD HOPE. ANALYSIS. Preamble. 1. Short Title. 2. Act to take effect when proclaimed by Governor. Section 8 to take effect at once after passing of Act. 3. Interpretation of terms. 4. Repeal of enactments. Construction of Act 15 of 1877. 5. Establishment of a Colonial Medical Council and a Colonial Pharmacy Board. ■6. The Council to consist of seven medical practitioners and one dentist. 7. The Board to consist of one member of Council and five chemists and drug- gists. S. Mode of election of members of first Council or first Board. On the day fixed the voting papers shall be signed and delivered to the person appointed. Voting papei-s may be sent per post; cannot be accepted after four o’clock p.m.; signature must be attested by a J. P. Number of votes. Person having majority of votes to be elected ; person appointed to open and count votes shall certify number to Colonijd Secretary. In case of equality Colonial Secretary to have casting vote. 9. Term of office of members of the Council or Board to be fixed by Governor. Governor may remove any member or any member may resign. Mode of procedure, in case of removal, death or resignation of any member. 10. Governor to fix day of first meeting of first Council and first Board. At such meeting members present shall elect a president of the Council and a president of the Board who shall hold office during membership. 11. Rights and powers of dentist member at meetings of Council. 12. Council and Board to make rules and regulations for the conduct of the busi- ness of its meetings. 13. Proceedings at meetings of Council or Board. 14. Council or Board may appoint executive committee. 1.5. Council or Board may appoint a Secretary ; and may by resolution remove him. 16.
