    Maternity and Infant Welfare Clinics. There are now two Lady Health Assistants and eleven Lady Health Visitors and Nurse-Midwives. They visit the localities inhabited by the poor and help to diffuse and popularise elementary knowledge of the principles of health and hygiene and to carry such knowledge into the homes and lives of the ignorant, they give advice on the prevention of disease and the care and up-bringing of infants and bring to the notice of the Authorities, unregistered births, unvaccinated children and cases of sickness, they also persuade prospective mothers to go to the Dufferin Hospital or to a Maternity Shelter. Where this provision is not taken advantage of, they attend on the women in their own houses, free of charge* Necessitous mothers and infants are also supplied with Milk at the Clinics at Forest Road and the Merlin Kingsley Memorial Dispensary, free of cost. The appointment of the Nurse-Midwife for Kanoungto which was originally sanctioned for one year has been extended for another year.
