There were 3 deaths (all legit. 2m. If.) among infants under one year of age, giving an Infantile Mortality Rate of 40.8 per 1,000 births as compared with 4 deaths rvith a date of 40.8 for 1952. No death occurring among illegitimate infants, the Illegitimate Infantile Mortality Rate for 1953 was, therefore, nil per 1,000 illegitimate births, as compared with the Legitimate Infantile Mortality Rate of 37.0 per 1,000 legitimate births. These latter rate were, respectively, nil and 42 for the previous year.
