Lettering

An Englishman's visit to a Chinese prison at Canton. The prisoners begging for money to buy bread. "The prisoners are not all malefactors, as some are there only to be squeezed of their money. Some, of course, are ruffians (pirates many of them) of the worst description. Their half-starved condition, however appeals to the English visitor". G.D.
