![URBAN DIvSTRICT OF DORKING Annual Report of the Senior Sanitary Inspector for the year 1947 vSanitary Inspector’s Office, CouNCiE Offices, PiPPPROOK, Dorking. To the Chairman and Members oj the Dorking Urban District Council. Mr. Chairman, Ladies and ('.enteemen, I suliniit herewith my Annnal Report on the work of your Sanitar\’ Inspectors during the year 1947. The number of complaints received continues to increase, l)ut it is pleasing to be able to note that the number of Notices outstanding at the end of the year is 60 less than the figure brought forward at its .'ommencement, proving, I think, that Notices are being complied with more quickly. This is probably due to the salutary efl'ect of tlie Council executing work in default in several cases, and the need for mch action diminished steadily as the year jirogresscd. Routine inspections of .sho])S, factories, food premises, licensed iremises, etc., were carried out as fully as ])ossil)lc, and our records nought U]) to date. As in the previous year, a great deal of time was taken up liy •isiting applicants for Council houses in order to assess their “liousing leed” in connection with the Points Scheme. In addition to visiting lew applicants, there was a constant need for revision of cases irevion.sly visited, owing to change in circumstances. In conclusion, I take this opjiortunity of thanking my colleagues or their willing co-operation. Dr. Ive for his continued lielp, advice md support, and memliers of the Council, particularly those of tlic lousing and Sanitary Committee, for their careful consideration of he matters I bring before them.
