Rehabilitation of a double leg amputee.

A fascinating colour film which illustrates the rehabilitation of a double below the knee amputee due to an accident at sea. Part one depicts the patient learning to walk on home made prosthetic legs, starting with 12 days after his accident. The prosthetics have been converted from Thomas splints and are used as pylons. Already the patient shows incredible motivation and agility. Six months later his gait is very natural, he can walk normally, ride a bike, climb ladders, run and play football. At the end he drives off in a car having passed his driving test on a manual vehicle. All the footage is shot outside in a very open grassy space with some buildings in evidence.
