WHKIiEAH it i.s c‘X]K‘(lieiit that persons loijiiiriuff nuMliwil jiid sliould be aide to distiiignish (pudiliod from un- (picilified jfriictitioners: ]>e it enactod by tlie Governor, tlio Legislative Conneil and House of A.s.senil)ly, in Legislative Session convened, as follows:— 1.—This Act shall lie known and cited as the New- foundland Medical Act.” 2. —As soon as conveniently niiiy be after [las-Siige of this Act, and not later than the first day of July in the pre- sent year, the Governor in Gonncil shall aiipoint three, the St. John’s Medical Society two, find the Conception Hay jMedical Society two, regularly rpuilified medical practi- tioners of not less than five years’ standing, who, together, shall be a Board, whereof any five shall be a rpiornm, for the purpose of carrying out the jirovisions of this Act, which Board shall be known as the “Newfoundland IMedical Board.” 3. —The duties, powers and functions of this Bojird shall relate to the nuiking find enforcing of measures necessiiry for the regulation and practice of medicine, and the protection find preservation of life and hetilth in this Colony as herein- after provided. 4. —Every vacancy in such Board, whether caused by death, resignation, removal from office or otherwi.se, shall be filled up by the body or authority who shall have nominated and appointed the jierson or persems cau.sing such vacancy, with as little delay as possilile; so that, as far as practicable,
