About this work
Description
Discusses the aetiology, diagnosis and treatment of chronic pyelonephritis (acute bacterial infection of the kidney leading to a chronic kidney condition or failure) and emphasises the need for early recognition of the disease. Several patients are considered; one female patient seemingly in a coma. Another adult woman describes how she was treated for an acute kidney infection as a baby, leading to needing kidney failure and needing dialysis as an adult. Comparative kidney sizes are seen in an experimental rabbit. Throughout there are diagrams, x-rays with radium showing secretions from the kidney.
