Thus, to laugh with those wdio laugh, is a natu* ral tendency ; we yawn because others do so ; we wink with the eye-lids from seeing others do so ; we throw Muscles of the Face into action, and do what is called making Jaces, from see¬ ing others do so; we move the Scalp from seeing' others do so ; if we see, or hear, crater dripping from a cask, we may want to imitate it; we wish to dance because others dance ; and convul¬ sive affections are caught by imitationin many of these instances, the wish to perform these ac¬ tions arises from Revived Sensations which si¬ milar actions in others give rise to.
