Medical Report for 1900. f j 'HE Sanatorium first received patients on March 17th, 1900, between which date and December 31st, 1900, forty-one have been admitted. Of this number five need not be considered, four being discharged almost at once as hopeless and the fifth as unsuitable. There have thus been thirty-six patients treated at Meathop, and with the exception of three all have benefited. Some have been cured,* very many have much improved, while those whose improvement has been less marked have gained much in learning the conditions of life most favourable to •consumptives. The thirty-six cases may be grouped in two different ways :— i. According to the result of treatment at Meathop. ii. According to their condition on admission, i. CLASSED ACCORDING TO RESULT:— Out of thirty-six there have been Cured* ... Very much improved Improved and improving Much the same or worse ii. CLASSED ACCORDING TO CONDITION ON ADMISSION:— A—Advanced Cases, Eleven. B—Less advanced yet serious Cases, Twelve. C—Slight Cases, Thirteen. * A case may be said to be cured when all unfavourable symptoms have disappeared, and when signs of active disease exist no longer.
