    though it must be admitted to be a difficult problem, whatever solution of it we may ultimately accept. Further, we must recognise that even in the case of our thought about ‘ what is,’ though error may lie in want of correspondence between Thought and Fact, it can only be ascertained and exposed by showing inconsistency between Thought and Thought, precisely as error is disclosed in the case of our Thought about ‘ what ought to be.’ ^ ^ [Cf. above Lecture II. pp. 33 f.]
