About this work

Description

The first in a three-part series in which we meet up with the children of earlier series as they approach ten years old. Emily, who has spina bifida, can't tell when she needs to go to the toilet. Emily has always refused to have surgery but now she's older she wants to be able to give up wearing pull up nappies and has agreed to have the operation. The camera follows her through the process. Zoe has arthrogryposis and has had an operation to straighten her left arm by doing a muscle transfer. Hamish was born with acondroplasia (dwarfism) and his family have been told that the tallest he will ever grow will be four foot, four inches tall. His parents discuss what it's been like for Hamish dealing with his height and we see him starting a new school. William has tuberous sclerosis which means he develops tumours in his brain leading to autism and severe epileptic seizures. We join him as he celebrates his tenth birthday.
