The heat of no part exceeds that of the blood which circulates through it. The heat of external parts is less than that of the blood which circulates through them. | The heat of the blood on the surface of the body, and in the extremities, is less than that of the blood in the heart. her: The heat of an inflamed part never exceeds that of the blood which circulates through the heart. Experiments.—1. Ina state of health. ‘To com- pare the heat of the blood in the right and left ventricles ; because if the heat is derived from the lungs, the blood in the left ventricle must be hotter than that in the right. 2. 'To compare the heat of the stomach with that of other parts. Examine the degree of heat in different parts of the same animal, and thus discover the part where it begins to be diffused. It is probable that the part where it is the greatest, is that from which it is communicated to the rest of the body. ‘Try the effects of tying up arteries and nerves, as to the heat of parts.
