There is clearly, there- 1000 X -55- X Щ J 1000 1000 fore, a transfer of six individuals in all. On the scale of TUBERCULOSIS IN HUSBAND AND WIFE. TABLE I. Pearson ; Professional Classes. Actual : Husband Correlation 0-24 Chance : Wife Transft 'er + 3 -3 relationship the correlation is 0-24. Shall we argue that to this extent the phthisical individuals infect their mates ? It is better to investigate further before we do more than note the fact that in the professional classes there is a somewhat greater chance of the tuberculous having a tuberculous mate. Dr. Goring has repeated a similar investigation on the poorer classes, such as pro¬ vide the bulk of our criminals. He has dealt first with the well-to-do and prosperous of the poorer classes, as shown in Table П. The transfer here is curiously enough exactly the same, but since the percentage of the tuberculous has risen the result is not so close.](https://iiif.wellcomecollection.org/image/b1802936x_0011.JP2/full/800%2C/0/default.jpg)
