The rejwit required by the Afinistry of Healtii tliis year is a survey report, -which lias to lie of a fullej- and more detailed char- acter than the ordinary report. 3’he year vas chiefly notcwvoj thy fi'om the fact that a gj-eat cdiange in health adniini-stration took [ilace in Apiil, P.'.'IO, by the trans- fcj’cnce of the T^oor Law work from the IToard of Guardians to the P.orough Council. A review of the vajious hosjiital .services available for the in- habitants of the Borough will lie found in the report, and also a .summary of the housing condilions in the Borough. Among the main features of the vital statistics for the year were the low general death rate ami the low birth rate. The infantile mortality rate was also low, although not quite .so good as the jecoid of The most unsatisfactoiy featvne Avas the very high (.'ancer death rate, Avhich has l ecn .steadily increasing for over 30 years. During the same jieriod the death rate irom Tuber- culosis has been decreasing at an almost eipiivalent rate. Xotifiablc infectious diseases, ]>ajticukrrly Scarlet Fe\'er and JAiphtheria, Avei'e very prevalent throughout the year. I have to record my thanks to the Assi.stant Medical Officer of Health (Dr. J.
