It is with profound regret that we record the death of the following past and present students of the School whilst on active service :— Capt. John Bailey Tackaberry, I.M.S., attached 31st Punjabis} killed in action. Capt. Owen Hairsine, M.C., R.A.M.C., killed in action, June, 1917. Lieut. Paul Bernard Wood, attached Royal Fusiliers, killed in action, 23rd April, 1917. Lieut.-Col. Francis Dawson Blandy, R.A.M.C., killed in action (notified 25th August, 1917). Lieut. George Edwin Chissell, M.C., R.A.M.C.. killed in action, October, 1917. Capt. John Fox Russell, M.C., R.A.M.C., Royal Welsh Fusiliers, killed in action, 6th November, 1917. Capt. Fox Russell was posthumously awarded the V.C. Our sorrow is mingled with feelings of intense admiration of the courage and devotion with which these men laid down their lives in the country’s cause.
