    he takes great Notice of them, and advifes one at leaft to be kept continually open and running during the whole courfe of the ma¬ lady, in Malignant and Peftilential Fevers, and fays that the great Ufe of them came firft to be known during the Peftilential Co?iftitution, which was Anno 1664 and 1665, and had continued ever fince. The reft of his Procefs, PeBoral Drinks, Lambatives, and PoJJet-Drink, with Pares in it in cafe that the Lungs, and Gargles and Mucilages in cafe that the Throat is affedted, together with Diafcordium, Theriaca, or Phi- Ionium, in cafe of a Loofenefs, and an Ounce of Diacodium every Night in cafe of Inquie¬ tude ; and, if the Small-Pox prove long Lift¬ ing, fome temperate Cordial, and to fupply the Spirits often with a Draught of it, in cafe of Faintnefs, and thorough Purging when the Small-Pox is well off, and the Patient fit for it. There is one thing further which the DoBor takes notice of, and that is, that many W aters, Oils and Unguents, or Liniments, are frequently made ufe of, in order to pre- ferve the Face, after the Small-Pox ; all which he thinks altogether ufelefs, if not hurtful; and that a little Flower, or white Starch, well dried, and fhaken upon the Face, is preferable to them all.
