After prc-bnit testing, two maintenance treatments Y/ere carried out during the year to destroy Rats in those main sewors found to be infested, v/ith very satisfactory results. Minor rat infestations at the Destructor Works, Salvage Depot and Sev/age Disposal Works have been dealt vath, also minor rats or mice infestations v/hich v/ere reported or discovered at A business premises and 47 private premises. Nil 4• Housing Act, 1936, Part IV - Overcrov/ding, Complete details of all overcrowding in the District cannot be given, but from the information supplied by over 600 applic.ants for Council houses, there are many cases of overcrowding, .and the position is still difficult. During the year, ten families have been transferred to Council Houses, Consideration has also been given to applications from Council House tenants v/ho require a larger house and other cases where a smaller type of house v/ould meet their need, and in order to make the fullest use of available acconinodation, fourteen Council House exchanges have been effected. The total nunber of persons rehoused, excluding Council House exchanges is 34? end the number of persons rehoused in Council House exchanges is 56, a total of 90.
