    31 wine, agrees with the Eau Medicinalc iu colour. Thirdly, that it differs but little in smell. Fourthly, that it agrees in taste. Fifthly, in dose, which is a very deci- sive circumstance. Sixthly, in its usual evacuant powers on the stomach and bowels. Seventhly, on its occasionally having no effect as an evacuant. And Eighthly, on its giving great relief in the gout, and abridging the paroxysm. The agreement in so many qualities, are strong arguments in favor of an identity of composition. Yet a greater number of cases are certainly requisite to prove it completely. A surgeon has few oppor- tunities of this kind, but by disclosing iny notions to you, and to the profes-
